Rocket Steamer is a paddle steamer with ancient look. A trip in a rocket steamer can be one of the bet trip in your life.
Destination:
Dhaka-Khulna (Having stoppages some stations between these 2 destinations)
Days:
Every day except Friday. But only Sunday & Thursday Rockets go till Khulna. Remaining days go till Morelgonj which is 2 stoppage before Khulna.
Time:
- Dhaka: 6.30 pm from Sadarghat River Station. Reaches Khulna next evening (6.30 pm)
- Khulna: 3.00 am. Reaches Dhaka next morning.
Fares:
- Dhaka-Mongla first class: USD 15 (Taka 1,030/person) Each Cabin has 2 beds.
- Dhaka-Khulna class: USD 17 (Taka 1,190/person).
- Deck Class fare: USD 2.2 (Taka 150) Sleeping bag needed to travel by this class.

Special Note:
If you can not get 1st class tickets, don’t worry. Buy a Deck class ticket, ride on the steamer and request any staff for their staff cabin for some extra money (Say double of Deck class). Keep the bags and go to the 1st class area to see the riverine beauty.

Very useful information. Everyone is fumbling to get the latest information about the time-table, fare, and routes of the rocket service, but seems like it is nowhere to be found!

Hey, I am going Khulna-Dhaka on the Rocket and was wondering if the ticket office in Khulna is open on Fridays. I also know that it leaves Khulna at 3AM, but do you know what time it gets to Dhaka? Thanks!
No office is open here at Fridays for sure. Don’t know about the time.

I just called on the land line to check the timings etc. Do you know what, the steamer does not operate to Khulna anymore!
BIWTC is having lots of difficulty keeping the rocket service alive because of their aged vessels and having not much water in the rivers. So their service is frequently stopping. Call the land-line number to know their current service status before you plan to travel.
